I joined SLX (then Theatre Direct) in Jan 1998 as Regional Hire Manager in the Cambridge operation.  I was then a founding part of the London team a few years later first as its Hire Manager then onto Live Events as a Project Manager.

My strengths lie in the more theatrical, experiential & found space technical projects, ranging from the immersive labyrinth of performance spaces that were the Old Vic Tunnels and the complexities of aerial performance Fuerzabruta at the Roundhouse, to pop up swimming tanks in Covent Garden and Bouncy castles for Candy Crush on the South Bank.

I joined SLX in 2005 having completed the technical apprenticeship at the Northcott Theatre under Maurice Marshal MBE.

Starting in the Exeter hire warehouse, I have held several roles over the years and now utilise my creative and lighting design skills to deliver a wide range of shows to our clients.

Having a particular strength in immersive illuminated experiences, I work extensively with the National Trust and our illuminated trains projects running at heritage railways across the country.

Being based in the southwest I look forward to improving and expanding our network of industry partners and becoming a trusted supplier with a “can do” attitude that makes us a “go to” company for any scope of live event work. I look forward to welcoming new partnerships and friendships from within the industry and looking outward to build relationships with suppliers and customers alike.

Following completion of my degree in creative music technology at Falmouth University I moved to Bristol and started working in the SLX warehouse's lighting team. After a stint with the Audio Visual team I then became a Live Events Technician.

My career in the creative events industry started 3 years ago after completing a degree in Bristol and taking a year off to go travelling. I landed a job with a Bristol based charity called Temwa UK. My role was diverse and opened up an exciting network of like minded creatives. During my time with Temwa I was lucky enough to work with the likes of Arcadia, The Invisible Circus, and the Boomtown crew. I was shown the ropes with event management and production from some of the best people in the business. Following this I went on to do a summer season working on some outdoor festivals such as Cosmic Roots, The Big Feastival, Tandem Festival and Lakes Alive, my roles at these events varied from Assistant Producer, Production Assistant and Festival Coordinator giving me a variety of experience and a comprehension of what roles make up an event of this scale. I then went onto work as an Event Executive for a marketing company named Fourth Floor where I was second to the Event Manager on delivering a 2 day gaming convention with 2,000 guests in attendance. The event consisted of 3 stages, live video gaming areas and music, as well as the entire event being live streamed to over half a million viewers.

I have so far loved every bit of my time at SLX. Its rare to find an organisation that share the same creative flare that i do in delivering technically and aesthetically pleasing events for both guests and clients.

I started with the company as a casual back in the summer of 2007 after working at the Old Vic Theatre in Bristol. Whilst in the warehouse I worked my way through the prep teams to become part of the warehouse management team. After getting experience on site as a technician I moved into our Live Events department where I am now a Project Manager, gaining my PRINCE2 qualification along the way. In my spare time you will either find me watching the cricket or listening to music.

Paul was the first ever employee of SLX over 40 years ago joining shortly after completing his training at the Northcott Theatre.  Over his career Paul has worked in nearly every department and is currently providing Live Events and Logistical support for our Head Office Team.

I joined SLX in 2018 starting in our Exeter Branch assisting with logistics, hire and events. In April 2019 I relocated to Bristol to join the events team as a Live Events Technician.

My passion is in lighting and has been from a very early age, at 14 I got booked to my first paying event to operate an ETC Presto! Since then the only way has been up, working at major UK festivals and touring with theatre companies. In my role at SLX, I look forward to the new daily challenges this stupendous industry has to offer. In my spare time, I like to set sail and downhill ski… when I'm not fixing my Landrover.
