How did you first get into live events?

Age 17 working within the marquee industry

 

How long have you been working at SLX?

Give a brief description of your role in the company?

Overall responsibility for the day to day management and running of SLX Ltd, along with the strategic direction of the business 

 

Why do you think The Lighting Program is important?

I started my career at the age of 17 within this industry working in a company through the Youth Training Scheme. So it is very important to me that we support young people by giving them the opportunities and access to equipment, and support to assist them to develop their skills and experience.

 

If you could give the students one piece of advice, what would it be?

Never be afraid of having a go at something, we all learn so much more from trying something new than not.

 

What is the most important thing in your toolbox?

Leatherman

 

If you hadn’t chosen to go into live events, what would you have done?

I would have gone into something creative, like marketing, brand development

 

Outside of work, what is your favourite hobby/pastime/thing to do?

Cycling, walking, running, being with my family

Mamma Mia

 

What has been your proudest moment?

Steering the business through Covid-19

 

Hairiest show stopping moment?

Creating a stage with a built in scissor lift to raise Kylie Minogue onto a raised dais for her big entrance in a temporary venue in Paris.
