We are delighted to announce that we have partnered with Bristol-based social enterprise, Babbasa.

Babbasa has a proven track record of addressing the persistently high levels of Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) youth unemployment, low educational attainment and declining aspirations in Bristol’s inner-city communities. Since 2013, they have supported over 3,000 young people in Bristol to become more confident to move into work, education, or business.

Babbasa is focussed on social mobility and their aim is to support one young person from every inner-city household in Bristol into medium-salary employment by 2030.

Their services are targeted to support young people (18-25 years). While they are open to all young people, 84% of those supported by Babbasa are BAME and 90% from low-income socio-economic groups.

What does our partnership with Babbasa mean?

Our partnership with Babbasa is part of a wider programme to offer opportunities for under-represented young people to work within the events and hospitality industry.

SLX has partnered with Babbasa for a period of 12 months. During this period, Babbasa will be guiding SLX through numerous training programmes and policy reviews focussing on creating an inclusive working environment that embraces diversity.

In return, we will be offering up to 3 placements to any young people engaged with Babbasa to come and experience the work we do at SLX. We will also be engaging with the Babbasa Equal Opportunities Ambassadors Programme where we will be providing mentorship for any young people at Babbasa.
