We’re proud to champion emerging talent through our Lighting Programme, and this year were delighted to be supporting Eoin Beaton, a member of our 24/25 cohort.

Eoin worked on Haydn’s La Canterina, a vibrant and comedic opera brimming with deception, disguises, and musical mischief. Directed by the Olivier Award-nominated Jamie Manton, with bold, imaginative designs by Peiyao Wang and musical direction from Leverhulme Conducting Fellow Riley Court-Wood, the production was a feast of theatricality, both visually and musically.

Eoin brought the colourful world of La Canterina to life through a considered and playful design that complemented the opera’s wit and energy. With access to professional-grade fixtures via our Lighting Programme, Eoin was able to realise his creative vision while navigating the challenges of a busy production environment.

Reflecting on his experience, Eoin shares:

“The support I have had from SLX while being on the programme is excellent. There is always someone available to answer any questions or offer valuable advice. I was offered full support when dealing with quotes and hire requests which led to a smooth-running show.”

We’re proud to have supported Eoin on this production, and it’s been fantastic to see how he’s used the tools and advice available through the programme to deliver such a dynamic and professional piece of work. His success is a testament to the value of investing in the next generation of lighting designers.
