Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
As part of our official sponsor agreement, we were honoured to be able to put forward a number of employees for the Queen’s Baton Relay ballot.
The Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay was officially launched on the 7th of October 2021 at a unique ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The Queen’s baton then hopped on a plane at Birmingham Airport and made its way to Croatia; 1 of the 72 countries on its destination list.
The baton arrived back in the UK on 4 July and four of our employees were chosen to run the baton through Devizes, Bath and Dover.
The SLX baton journey in total lasted around 800m.
On 5 July, Nic, Derek and Oliver proudly carried the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Baton for the Queen’s Baton Relay along the Devizes canal and through Bath.
On 7 July, Emily, completed SLX’s baton journey along The White Cliffs of Dover.
Members of the public cheered on the Batonbearers, with live dancers and music accentuating the occasion.
It was a truly unique experience, commented Derek, while Emily described it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
